Short shot with JVC HD100 --Sleepless

My friends and I are both pretty avid filmmakers, and this was our latest production. I know it's youtube, I know it sucks, but just take a look and give it your 2 cents please.

Hmmm, interesting stuff. What scene file did you use? It looks like you used a 35m adapter. M2 or something different? Also, how did you color correct in post to get that look? (has a greenish tint to it?)
 
there was no adapter used. the color correction was all done in premiere pro 2.0 with a combination of luma and rgb curves. basically we just tweaked the settings until we got the look that we wanted.
 
Overall, a little too "film-schoolish" for me. No real story. "Pretentious" (sorry but it's true) voice over. Go to any film school vault and you'll see a thousand of these movies. However, I thought the cinematography at times bordered on greatness. The shots of the shoes walking in sand = great. The shot standing on the semi-rock and all subsequent closer-ups of that shot = great. Liked the shots running through the woods. Also liked the Sufjan song.

I'd like to see what you could do with a movie that, at the end of it, you don't want to kill yourself.

haha yea,i completley agree with the pretentious-ness of it all. we actually were just trying to shoot a number of interesting locations, exploiting our cinematography skills. the voice-over/story wasn't written until all of our shooting was done. but don't worry, we're prepping to shoot something with a real plot quite soon. script work is done, we're just scouting for locations and getting a cast together. stay tuned.
 
This is pretty hot. Ending with Marcy Playground was definitely a nice touch. I have that Album. Might listen to it today. Very weird. I thought the masked gunman was going to come after the lead character. The YouTube compression wasn't too bad either.

the mask gunman killed the lead character ;). it was his distorted perception of the future through his dream.
