Short film shot on DVX100a

Hey good stuff. Just a two questions:

1. What kind of lights did you use on this?
2. Did you use a wide angle adapter or a 35mm lens adapter?

Fabian

We used one HMI, a three light lowell kit and an occasional lite panel. And yes, we did use a Century wide angle adapter, but no 35mm lens adapter.

i liked it to. its not like some of the other videos i've seen shot with dvx... what did you use for the audio? did you go back and recorded it...

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. Regarding sound. Just a boom mic and 2 wirelesses into camera - regular ENG type rig. The magic happened with our great rerecording mixer who also was our sound effects editor and brought it to life.

A couple of great shots in here.

I would have backed the camera up and zoomed in all the way to get that background crushed for some shots. When you switched from one actor to the other, the one actor would have the background blurred, and the second actor wouldn't, so the continuity there looked off.

Audio was great. I thought the female lead did a great job and was my favorite out of the bunch.

Nice pacing and smooth cutting!

Robbie

hey I hope you don't mind but I had to get on here and put a second review on this.
I just had to!

So I watched it again!
This time I was not looking at it with a producer's eye but instead I was watching it as if I was at home with my wife watching lifetime and I have to say.....
you guys did a hec of a great job, I enjoyed every single frame

How does one post to YouTube in HD? I thought I posted this in HD but it doesn't give me that option when I uploaded it and it doesn't show on the screen when you pull up the video as a choice. I always see on other videos the choice of HD or SD - on mine it doesn't. Thanks.

Um...the dvx doesn't shoot hd. So, how do you expect to view it in hd?

Oh, almost forgot...nice work! Most "longer" short movies are unbearable to watch, but this was really well put together. My only complaint is the generic title.

Thanks, Jambredz. I can't wait to try, but I can't find your Premiere preset on your blog - the one you illustrate on your link.

Hmm I duno if I understand. If ur talking about the link I gave u, that's a link from someone whose settings a pretty good for exporting for vimeo and youtube. I think he may have export settings for the other programs also...I will have to check cuz I got that through vimeo. I don't recall my blog (jambredzfilms.blogspot.com)having any export links.

The link I gave above, u need to click on the image to the left hand side and it will enlarge the pic and u can follow the instructions. Hope this helps.
Btw...what do u edit with?

I did find it, Thank you. It works great! Couple questions. The only shot in the whole movie that didn't render properly off your preset was the first shot when the meat comes in from the top of frame and is slammed down on the cutting board. It looks a bit staggery. Is that due to the rapid movement? The other question is, "Is there a way to replace (upgrade) your video on youtube and not lose your number of views? Thanks again.
