Scenalyzer for HD Capture?

Just discovered this cool program www.scenalyzer.com that captures DV directly off the DVX via firewire. It has some nice features including Stop Motion and timelapse.

Has anyone used this product before?

The system requirements say it can use Windows 98, me, 2000, and supports most hard drives if it has DMA buffering.

This could be a way to get a super compact pc hd recorder (i hate to lug around a huge laptop)..

Re: Scenalyzer for HD Capture?

i ONLY use scenalyzer to capture. i have been using it for about 2 years. i totaly love it, there might be better pieces of software out there, but i just love the way it works. its so super easy to use, it automaticly sees the cuts in the tape. all i do is give it a prefix, click capture and it goes at it, recording to a folder that i choose...it finds a cut, gives it a timecode stamp on the file name and moves on. it can alos create a tape index, what it does is runs the tape at fast forward, recording what it sees, including the scene breaks. and gives you a nice little index of all the stuff on the tape, and you can click check boxes for the shots you want to capture.

the only thing that i wish it would do, was remove the extra frames in 24pa...but scenalyzer was created before 24pa and i dont think they have done any updates to the software in a long time.

Re: Scenalyzer for HD Capture?

Scenalyser does remarquable things for me in real life capture:

1. you can delete or rename any files *during*capture (even the file you are actually capturing!)

2. you have different pretty usefull autonaming options

3. you can monitor and preview (with scrubbing) in any resolution you want

4.best of all, the capture is incredibly stable! I captured zillion of little DV files for an educating project (well, 3000 in fact...) on the laptop without dropframes...) I even made a 2 hours capture without problem on my laptop when Vegas was in the same time rendering an mpeg file! No kidding!

The only thing i really miss is the possibility to adjust the preview to mimmick NTSC and a couple of monitoring tools DV Rack has.
