Red One: Cinema Red Two: Eng

I'm just as excited as the next guy about our RED cameras. But because I am in wedding/event work, my RED won't be suitable for live work, which is okay. I'm mainly getting the RED for feature filmmaking endeavors.

Just an idea though: the RED TWO should be geared more towards the ENG market.
Have it interface with ENG lenses and lots of "smart" auto functions.
If you do that, I can buy the RED TWO for that kind of work! Would love to keep my spending dollars with just RED!

Keep up the AMAZING work guys!

The problem is that there are allready LOADS of CHEAP ENG cameras that are plenty for the new environments of today - and even the future.

In the High End Cinema world, the RED is makign incredible steps in quality. There just arn't steps to take like that in the ENG world.

wuts with the use of these numbers? Are there plans in the future to make second and third set of cameras? because i dont see the point being that the point was modularity. RED should never make types of cameras for any types except to stay the course of what it is.

A camera for all-time.

I strongly believe this. and additional aids for ENG market and other needs will stroll along either by red or third party.

either case, it should hold until the next ten years or more.

sorry.. the other eng cameras are not even CLOSE to the quality of what RED produces, image-wise.

Since RED, i beleive and know so (so do others), is a camera that produces the best electronic motion picture, hands-down, There is nothing that beats RED. Kindly, do not compare other mickey-mouse cameras with RED. If you do.. you need glasses and you need to check out the gallery page on red.com

I support the idea of a RED TWO with auto-functions. Be it they make ammendments to their line of lenses with electronic motors and add more auto functions to their new camera. Why say no.. when it can happen.

And why would they have to be for ENG work? It's only very recently that high end FEATURE FILMS have been made in 4k. And RED is not another ENG camera.

RED is a camera that produces the best electronic picture? Nothing beats it? Er... it doesn't exist yet. And I say that as a reservation holder with much confidence in RED, not a nay-sayer. 1080i/p, as many ENG cameras produce, is hardly "mickey-mouse". Even budget HD cameras such as the HVX200 or the 720p HD100 produce beautiful images. Certainly superior to what could be produced only a year or two ago at many times their price. And I DON'T own either of these cameras. Just think they're excellent value for the money, and well up to the task of most ENG work.

Why say yes? RED is a digital cinema camera. Film cinema cameras don't have auto focus. In fact most DPs would hate that. For real professional cinema work, auto focus is basically useless. For that matter, even zoom is a rarely used function on feature film production. (Don't believe me? Watch your favorite feature film with pen and pad in hand, put a mark for every time you see a zoom shot - not a track. You'll be amazed at how blank your pad is at the end.) I intend on buying a zoom for my RED only to have an infinite number of primes in one lens.

I think modularity is still their goal, but there could be something like a more expensive REDTWO with optical viewvinder and reflex shutter, just like the Arri D20... That would still retain RED's modular approach, especially since all the accessories could still be used for all cameras. It would sell well for higher profile costumers, while ONE would still be the indie king...
