problems switching bt VCR/camera mode and w/LCD

Hi - I am a new DVX100B user and wanted to check here before sending my camera in for repairs. I was recently shooting in a tropical climate and after a period of shooting, the camera would automatically go into VCR mode and I wasn't able to swtich back into camera mode. Only after taking the battery out and giving the camera a break would it go back into normal camera mode with the ability to switch between the two.

Additionally, my LCD display would change suddenly. I would lose the audio bars, I would instead get the volume bar (but I wouldn't be able to change it) and my headphone volume would drop out.

Has this happened to anyone before? I'm not sure if it's related to long periods of use combined with a warmer climate? Any suggestions?

Sounds like a switch has gone intermittently short somewhere.
Either that or the firmware is screwed up.
Try prodding the reset button. If it's in software, this may well fix it.
Be aware that you will lose some camera settings when you do this.
