Premiere Pro/Avid Stereoizer????

So in AVID, I have a plug in called NUGEN STEREOIZER. I love it because I can take mono nat sounds (like crowds for example) and make them sound stereo -- it gives a nice left and right speaker sound. When I add it in premiere on the audio mixer, it doesn't do anything. Am I using it wrong or do I need to buy a different plug in. Thank you!

Plugins are designed to operate in a specific piece of software. I don't know what's done in the programming/coding but bigger companies usually have packs of the same plugins available for the different NLEs.

So like they tell you, buy this pack if you're using Premiere, buy this pack if you're using FCP, etc.

Sometimes video or audio assets might be labeled as plugins (made to work in a timeline over footage/tracks) but those are universal formats like .mov or .mp4, .aiff, etc. that could be dropped into everything.

How are you using yours in AVID?

I don't use Stereoizer, but in general I like Nugen's tools (e.g., Halo, their loudness tools). So a few thoughts:

1) Ask Nugen. Duh. :) (ps- I'm saying "Duh" to myself, not to you... but they have decent support imo).

2) If you're on a Mac, confirm that Stereoizer works on Apple Silicon. Ya, worth checking.

3) Try de-installing and reinstalling in a different plug-in standard/format. Again, mainly an idea for Mac. As in: If you installed the VST3 version, deinstall that and try the AU version.

4) Try applying STEROIZER in Adobe Audition (or Pro Tools, Reaper, whatever), then bringing the result into Premiere Pro.

5) Try Ozone Imaginer from iZotope. That's a free subset of their Ozone product(s). I use a paid version of Ozone. but not the free version... My guess is that the free version, which does some stereoizing, will do what you want Did I mention it it free? Worth a try, huh? https://www.izotope.com/en/products/ozone-imager.html

+1 on Jim's suggestion on the free iZotope plug-in. For a freebie, it does a decent job. Especially if you want to introduce some HAAS effect.

Another freebie one worth checking out as it comes with a bunch of stereo presets. Some awful, some quite good. It's the "Voxengo StereoTouch - Mono to Stereo VST" plug-in.
