Poor Quality S & Q footage from A7III

For the first time I shot some S & Q footage on my A7III and the quality was really poor. Tons of aliasing -- almost looks like a proxy file. Never had an issue shooting 4K.

S & Q settings are 24p and 120fps (5X slow mo/12mbs) Super 35 crop mode (Sony 18-105)

Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would rather shoot (at any rate in PAL HD) at 100 fps at 100Mbps and keep the sound and conform the needed speed in post. At least at 50% speed the file is still running 50Mbps and at 25% speed 25Mbps. That's a low enough bit rate for me. 4K S&Q on the A7 cams is a bit of a non starter for me.

Ok thanks for the info. I have a few Canon FF lenses but my Metabones is really a tight fit on my A7III and it makes me nervous to use it... In any case my footage is laughably bad even though it's s35 mode. I feel like I must be doing something wrong...
 
I never well understood benefice of Sony S/Q mode, to me it is only better when S/Q mode can beat normal max frame rate, before with FS100 max SQ was 60i/s and same in normale mode + sound, now with fs7 SQ can record 180i/s in HD of course without sound. With A7RIII SQ and normal mode are same 100i/s but there is more bandwitch and sound in normal mode, it is why i forget Slow mode on A7.

For time lapse I just run a specially written time lapse script in Vegas Pro where you can nominate any constants you want. Say extract one frame every second or every three or five seconds or whatever combination you want. The script then assembles all the extract frames together on another track which you can then render out as a time lapse video sequence or as a bunch of still images. Love the fact that you can play around with the different time/frame constants to get the desired look.

fill up your subject in the frame as much as possible. stay away from wide scenics. resolution is a big let down @ 1080 and really worse @ 1080 - 120fps.
 
The HD could have been great or at least better like with the previous a6000 & friends, but corporate decided the 4K quality was more important as the trade-off, which wasn't a bad decision in itself either as the a6300/a6500 and a7III had some of the highest quality 4K of their time for the price back then (while the a6300/a6500 had the worst rolling shutter in the history of cameras to get that quality).
