Panasonic offering $1,000 for your DVX100 after

Buy a PX270, send Panasonic your DVX100, HVX200 or HPX170 & Panasonic will give you $1,000 cash back. Serious offer since I don't think you can sell a DVX on ebay for $1,000 & a HVX doesn't sell for much more than that, so sweet deal if you've been looking at a PX270 & your DVX has just been collecting dust.

To me the biggest selling point of the PX270 is all the different bit rates it can record at. Super high quality fill up your cards in no time, to low bit rate but still good quality that will record for hours on a single card.

I am a huge fan of the Sony EX1, but I really think this camera has a lot going for it. While I'm not looking for another camera myself, if I was this would be the camera I look at before looking at the PMW200.

Yeah, that'd be pretty cool too.

Though while the X1000 (sounds like a Terminator) has 4K it doesn't have a lot of things the PX270 has like: 3 chips; HD-SDI; TC & Genlock I/O...

Did a serious comparison with the PMW200 before selecting the PX270. Assuming the OIS gets fixed and the missing codecs get added, I'll end up being very happy with my decision.

Looked in the fine print: "Offer good only in the 50 United States." :-(

If you're elsewhere, especially North America, I'd say try contacting a Panasonic rep in your country to see if there is something they can do.

What are the missing codecs? What is wrong with the OIS?

Just curious how this camera is selling considering the high fixed price? Seems like a lot of money for a digital these days. Moreover, I have yet to find a three chip in the under $6K that beats most any of the really clean single chip cameras at 1/2 to 1/3 the price. Anyone else care to comment about their experiences accordingly?
