Now we're talkin...

Just finished downloading. Very nice. So strange not seeing film-weave in the BG. Kudos all.

Very nice. Stunningly clean.
And very nice rescale and compression, especially compared to the old clips.

For downloaders note that the Photo Jpeg Codec of the quicktime is 4:2:2, so the aliasing in the stronger colors are caused by this.

[freaks the hell out]

What's there to say? It's gorgeous. Great job with squishing it to 8-bit... very nicely done.

It's like having the screening right here on my desktop.

To expand upon what Anders said, any visible compression is due to the JPEG compression. If you want to see what I'm talking about, double the resolution and check out the artifacting around the left girl's head. That is obviously not a result of REDCODE.

This is great - I've been waiting for a 1080p video to play with for ages. Thanks guys.

Just viewed it on the G5, HP2335 LCD native res, what the hell was that?!
Pushes play (again)

Note to self: Do not misplace Titanium R's.

i don't really know what to say.. All I can say is that in a compressed format and at 1080P.. The Motion is smooth and there is no artifacting. WOW. That is some of the best compressed footage I think I have ever seen. Good Work guys good work.

now maybe you can disclose who did provide the catering?.. you don't need to answer.. even you jim.. but next shooting day with such gals, i want to be there..

and please don't ask me what i'll be doing there.. i'll never confess.. :) :)

I downloaded the file to my PC laptop, but couldn't get it to play back without a serious stutter. I'm assuming that's my playback issue of such a large file and not the footage itself?

WHY DO I NOT HAVE A RESERVATION!?!?!?!?!

Jim congrats...STUNNING!
Daniel. Stay in touch. I'm working like a madman to get my pennies saved up in time. Should be good to go by the time my number comes up...and I could use a good HVX rental rate in the meantime. :)

That footage is exactly what I needed to see. Still need to see more test of the dynamic range, but this clip alone has me optimistic that the sensor will be able to do great things.

Did anybody notice the single strands of hair completely separated from the background?

J.

PS-I'm East of Phoenix.

Well the question now is how viable an option will REDCODE be as a deliverable codec format. I don't think, I have seen a codec that holds up this good. of corse thats just the imprecision for now. So why not use the codec for more then just footage captured on the RED ONE... I could see using it for archive, delivery and post work flow for all production footage. Now I know that this is probably what it is designed for all along. But now with seeing footage using it. It is becoming more and more of the reality.
