I've noticed recently that I really love/admire films that do not take the traditional path of coverage (i.e. master, over/over) as their primary tool. I of course don't mind coverage in certain cases, for instance in cars or at tables where it is extremely difficult to get around it.
One film that I think does this extremely well is 'In the Mood For Love'. That films is not afraid to have characters off-screen, behind objects, turned away from the camera, etc. And it works beautifully.
What are some films you could recommend to me that masterfully avoid using coverage?
