Monitors?

I just got a new editing computer to edit 6k footage. Anyone have any good feedback on what Monitors that is best to use with it? Best Buy people are not up to speed on what is good and what isn't good.

Hit up reddit gaming sections; you'll narrow down the best over there.

Presumably you're okay with a 4K one since there are probably only like 20 true 6K+ computer monitors and like 1 is affordable for people, ha.

Could consider TVs too which now have a lot of gaming features and are more affordable high-resolution options, which could make them editing monitor considerations for some people.

The highly-desired 48" LG C3 is on sale again (but the C4 just started shipping a few weeks back):

The sweetest dedicated monitors I've found, which don't break the bank, are the ASUS Pro Art monitors. They now feature HDR, whereas they didn't before.

But, in my 4-screen setup, I do have that 48" LG OLED as an external preview monitor. I have been very happy with it.

I have a 32-inch ASUS ProArt PA32U that I bought about five years ago. Good then; good now. Was about US$1300. I think the equivalent quality is probably about the same price. My goal wasn't to get a true reference monitor, but to get something affordable and accurate enough for low-end corp and doc work, and that allows me to remotely take a look at cuts from the editors and colorists (who have really good reference monitors), and have a reasonable sense of what they're doing (before we meet in person, etc). The monitor is also pretty good for working with still photos.

I also looked at Dell UltraSharp and BenQ monitors; I think those brands still have good offerings.

My next major upgrade is going to be my studio computer, moving from an iMac to a Mac Studio, which means I need new monitors. Looking very closely at the ASUS Pro Art now. Thanks!

I have an LG 42" in my setup and as much as I like the picture, I'm tired of it telling me how it intends to "clean" itself every time I turn it on. Is that defeatable? I haven't figured out how yet.

I get that, too. I don't know how to turn it off, unless maybe you also turn off the anti-image retention features, which I'm not inclined to do. Of course, I try very hard never to have static images on it for very long.
