Maliboo - Horrorfest Entry

Tom Marshall

Actor!!!!!!
Fresh out of an upper class Malibu high school, three friends decide to take their yearly Halloween prank to the next level. So they decide to pull the "ultimate prank" on their ex-gym coach by telling him that his wife died on a plane trip to New York. Big mistake...

Here's where we're at so far:
9/9 - Had our casting session. We had about 30 people show up and had a few great actors from the group.

We had about 400 submit for the role in total. I had to reply to about 120 people and it was a bit overwhelming to answer all the emails!

UPDATE!!
Here are the actors that we've chosen...

We'll be filming Saturday, October 14th and 15th, for a two day shoot.

I realize that this won't make it into the contest, but we're still going to make this short! It will most likely turn out to be around 10 - 15 minutes long.

Crew:
Writer / Director: Tom Marshall (myself)
Director of Photography: Max (webdog)
Composer: James Wilson / Tom Marshall

Sounds like a pretty interesting story. Good luck on the all day shoot. I'll be waiting to hear how that ended up.

were still working on securing a location... But we should have one my mon - tues and we need to get insurance and a film permit (we dont want to get shutdown)

So far we have a pretty big budget...

AS of today i have spent $300+ on stuff to build a dolly, and ordered a 7" LCD monitor, and building 2 LED light panels.

We may build a crane if time allows.

Im sure this budget will grow a lot by the time shooting is done.

Hey John,

Yeah, what webdog said (he's our DP)...

We were going to do the opening shot driving down the PCH highway, but I'm thinking it won't happen. It would be a sweet opening shot, but logistically, not very practical.

We're trying to find a nice house as a location, since it's supposed to be in Malibu. We had one place, but it kinda fell through. :(

Hey Tommy, let me know how those LED light panels work for you. If they are good, pass on some info of what works, what doesn't. I am not a fan of LED lights, but they do have their benefits and people seem to love them.

Good luck with all!

Ted

Hey Ted,

We'll definitely let you know... I'm wondering how they'll turn out myself...

We will be building a crane though. Gives me a chance to do a little MIG welding... :)

Welding is fun, man... I haven't done a lot of projects, but I have practiced a lot. One thing that I made was an electric fuel pump bracket for my 67 Mustang. I'll have to find the pics I took and let you see em.
