JVC news

JVC released HD100U upgrades - the HD200U and HD250U.

True 4:2:2 straight from the chip, 60P (similar to the Varicam), improved cine-gamma, 16/35mm lens mount options, on-chip image flip for adapters like the RedRock Micro, some really cool stuff.

I'd post a link to a detailed rundown, but that move got my hand slapped and the thread deleted a few minutes ago. Suffice to say that JVC will do well with these cameras...

HD200U = $7995 (added 60P and flip image LCD)... too much imho..

i think it is still HDV...

where does it say its 4:2:2? The press release doesnt mention it... (http://snipurl.com/pm7g)

What codec are they using for 4:2:2?
I don't have any info on that, unfortunately. Well, on tape it's got to be vanilla HDV.
I do know that the directo-to-disk option they announced will supposedly create FCP compatible .mov files, so ingest time is saved.

Consider that the image flip feature saves a 35mm adapter user from dropping $1300 additional bux on a Marshall 7" LCD. Oh, and that flip is done ON-CHIP, so you don't have to mess with it in post.
As a side note, I find it hard to believe that you are sneezing at 60P...

Nope. It doesn't. Just at my site. A little birdie told me... :)

So is there any talk about being able to hookup a CCU? I have seen pics of a CCU hooked up to a HD100, but none on the market to buy.

is this discussion even allowed anymore on these boards?

How long before this thread is closed?

i kid

dude, im kiddin...chill :love4:

I wonder if the SSE will be resolved with the new JVC? Seems like it should at least be improved upon.

I heard the firmware update didn't provide a complete fix but did reduce it enough to where it wasn't much of a problem anymore. Apparently it was still there but you had to really mess with the settings to get it to show up.

I don't know much about the JVCs so I could be way off base.
