JVC LS300 and covering the sensor

You can adapt MFT glass to other mounts, but vignetting will probably always occur with most MFT lenses. Not sure about those Veydras though.

The LS300 has a S35 sized sensor. There is a menu function called Variable Scan Mapping. VSM allows you to adjust how much of the sensor is used to record the image, depending on the lens and/or adapter. I use Olympus Pro MFT lenses and set VSM to 80%. There is a review of the LS300 at newsshooter.com that explains VSM.

The Veydras cover the sensor at 100%, that's one of the main reasons I went with them, wanted to use the whole sensor without an adapter.

I said to other mounts...that reply was to post #21. (Read the comment above.)

It was mentioned that MFT lenses could be used on other mounts and a link was provided to a MFT to E-mount adapter.

Not sure how the Veydras would do on a FS7, for example, with that adapter. Probably would be able to cover it, but other MFT lenses would not.

The E-mount Veydras definitely should be able to.

That's cool, I was replying to the first sentence of #21, you had the 2nd. :)

I'm looking at the Veydra 25mm MFT, but would like to know if there's any vignetting.

One other point, you can adapt micro four thirds glass to some other mounts....
I haven't used the 25mm, but I have the 35mm and there is no vignetting on the LS300.

I don't know about MFT and other mounts, I liked that they covered the sensor, that was kind of the trade-off for locking in to the MFT mount that I may never use again. Still not sure I made the right call in that regard, but I liked the lenses and went with it for this cam.

[EDIT] - (originally thought there was no vignetting on the 16mm Veydra at 100% but I was incorrect, there is some small vignetting with the 16mm.)

Found this nice vidya by Rick Young over at Movie Machine about the Veydra's on the LS300:
https://youtu.be/fJrfsD8TsL4

He says the 2 widest angle lens do vignette on the LS300, but not the 25mm.

I wonder if Veydra is thinking about making them in EOS mount anytime soon. I'd love to get this glass, but outside of the LS300 can't really see using MFT mounted cameras.
