Search around the first few pages of the lighting forum. This has been discused recently, as well as ways to modify them for better effectiveness.

i made 2 or 3 trips to home depot where i looked at every flourescent fixture that looked like the ones in walter graff's article before i finally figured out which one it was...

one of the keys was the end caps, they are fairly specific.

but the packaging covers them up, luckily there was a taped up one that someone returned and you were able to see the end caps way better than usual.

GE has a line that is in different levels of fancyness, the ones that seem to be an identical match to his article are the "basic"

he mentions the wattage etc. but the damn packaging is "consumer friendly" and only talks about if it has a plug or if it is a direct wire and focuses more on "fully assembled" etc.

nice thing about these is that they come in a huge range of sizes. i bought the small one and got reflective foil tape that he recommends.

i know walter is now on here so i'm sure he'll comment, BTW, i'm happy to say that walter appears to now have a home not 20 miles from where i live!

i'm hoping to do some one on one consulting with him to finally get the lighting thing down. lighting is by far my weakest skill in this whole craft.

sorry i threw it away, it was a burgundy color (dark red)

GE - so we finally have a brand name to look for!

just look for GE and BASIC

it is a very basic fixture (no pun intended) and they have the foil tape that walter graff mentions as well.

all sorts of different sizes.

SO those GE fluoros are daylight balanced, right? Can you get tungsten balanced ones for them?
