Hi,
This is just to mention that Sony has released the FW that allows the shutter angle on FX3 and FX30, plus other few things

I updated as well, and had no issue. It took more 2 mn than 6 mn.
Shutter angle is a nice to have.
Something has been improved to connect the camera via Bluetooth to a smartphone with creator's app (looks a new app to me). Before with Monitor & control it was a mess.
Now, it's easy and faster. And with less lag (at least on my smartphone)

Could you post a screenshot of what the creators app interface looks like?

Also, does it have 709tone now? What does that look like?

Also, how many different shutter angles can you select?

i havent updated my firmware in years since they removed slog2 and i use it all the time... im tempted to update but theres no going back i dont think

Well, first of all I don't know what it is. Second, if I lose slog2 I'm going to need to replace it with a low-contrast, high-saturation profile that I think looks pretty and doesn't need to be graded except for a contrast adjustment.

Looking at what newsshooter says about 709tone, that looks like it's sort of what it's supposed to be. But looking at some side by side scinetone/709tone comparisons, it looks like it has more contrast than scinetone although I think the color looks better.

I hadn't realized that we could burn in LUTs on the fx3 now. So maybe the solution is to find or design a LUT for slog3 that roughly matches what I was getting with slog2. I just think slog3 has crappier highlight handling than slog2 right out of the gate. But I'm several firmware updates behind on the fx3 and the list of features I'd like to use is growing.

What boggles my mind is that they never releases a fine tune shutter control for defeating flickering and banding. But the shutter angle option will really help because the problem I encounter most frequently is solved with 1/120 shutter on the a7iv (actually 1/119.9 since that's the closest I can get) whereas these fx3 can only do 1/125 and it's no good. So with 180 shutter at 60fps or 360 shutter at 120fps it should hopefully solve those scenarios and I won't have to fall back on the a7iv.

It also looks like there won't be an fx3 successor coming this year, according to rumors sites. But there may be an a1mk2 which may have 8k60. Who knows, maybe I'll get that. But iso12800 is so useful for me, especially when shooting higher framerates.

Well, first of all I don't know what it is.
I haven't had a chance to test it myself and compare it to other shooting modes, but it is my understanding that 709tone is basically just ITU709 with the Matrix turned off. It is primarily intended for use in Japan and other countries where color management for broadcast is generally done in post rather than on-board the camera. Since I haven't had the chance to play with it yet, I was just curious if you had any further information about it. I look forward to seeing how it compares to S-Cinetone.

All I know is what I have been told by Sony, and that's how they described 709tone to me. I'll be doing some testing and comparing of my own soon.

I decided to take the leap and update my fx3 to firmware v6, losing slog2 in the process.

I went to the website - the firmware update is gone. Apparently it bricked some cameras and they took it down over 2 weeks ago. They haven't fixed it yet...
