Been meaning to switch back to FCP after years of Premiere... and now FINALLY am trying. My 1st attempt is going well. BUT I have green horizontal lines the flash over any footage I've blown up or added lots of FX to. see pic. Also comes out in export to vimeo on on computer. Any thoughts? I'm on decent 27inch iMac i5 3.8 with 32GB ram. OS 10.14.6. FCP 10.4.10

Most likely due to either a faulty plugin that's not playing well or a weak graphics card.

First order of business when troubleshooting would be to de-click/turn off the effects one by one to see what's causing it.

That usually narrows it down followed by reinstalling the software and/or removing plugins.

My guess would be anything you added outside of normal FCPX. In this case, you said you added lots of FX (effects or filters). I would start here. Remove them and see if the problem goes away. Btw, I've never seen green lines like that. What sort of video camera are you using and the format? Some newer cameras or phones could be using a compression format the FCPX doesn't like.

It seems to be the REDUCE NOISE FX - but I thought that was built in as I do not think I have any 3rd party stuff. BUT it only happens if I enlarge footage to well over 100% and have the filter on. If I enlarge with no noise reduction I'm fine... or if I have video at 100% and add noise reduction I'm fine. Guess I'll do re-install.

I've seen those kind of lines/corruption before which happened because of some sort of scaling effect (including scaling overlays).

Some plugins will provide a pop-up message that says the graphics card can't handle the task/render (inside FCP X).

Could also be a bug that Apple hasn't addressed if it's their own, or just a random combination of bad luck with the format you're editing.

hmmm... well I already started doing re-install, but I can not find and FCP extra docs. The web says to go to Finder GO menu > LIBRARY > APPLICATION SUPPORT... but there are NO FCP docs there?

I'm not sure what the question is...but that's where some plugins would be if you had to find them and manually delete them. Others have a dedicated uninstall process.

Share screenshots of what you're using/doing if it happens again later if you'd like.
