I'm guessing an adapter + hvx setup would be too heavy?

It will not be too heavy just totaly out of balance and "extremely uncomfortable"

Danny,
Will you have an upgrade for the DVRigPro?

the "Classic" DvRigPro will be still available. the new DvRigPro HD will be an
addition to our line and will carry all cameras including 35mm setups, XL 1-2 and
the XL-H1.

A little confusing is that the review is handling the multirigpro and that the answer is handling the dvrigpro and dvrigpro HD, these are different products and not reviewed above. Maybe a picture from the latter to show it?

Their site has a multitude of pictures of all 3 units, accompanied by descriptions and/or video. Check the link above.

One thing not mentioned on their site, or in the review, is the estimated or actual payload capacity of the multirig. It has a whole lot of accessory mounts on it so I assume it is meant to be outfitted if necessary, but being a support rod style rig, I'm curious as to how much can it take.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Danny,

With my Brevis and HVX mounted on rails the balance is almost perfectly centred. So I don't think that would be an issue. The setup weighs 9lbs. Are you sure that much weight isn't an issue? I'm especially interested in the Stabiliser Plus mode (out in front on the rod).

I'm leaning toward the multirig pro based on its versatility and price.

Thanks.

Weight is Ok, you can give it a try at Alan Gordon in CA.

The best thing to do would be to contact Danny and ask him. I'm not sure if he offers dvxuser discounts or not to be honest.

But, either way... it's a solid product.

50 % on the Velcro padded support waist belt. That's about 5 % from the total
MultiRigPro cost.

When ordering on-line, Print your DVXUSER user name in the remarks box.

how difficult would it be to put some wheels on the dvrig pro hd?

For those who have tried both the DVRig Pro and the DVMultiRig Pro - which one did you prefer?

Obviously the Multi can be configured differently as required, but is the footage from each equal (steady)? I was impressed with some of the footage from the demo - quite acceptable for "handheld" shots.

I just have the budget for one of these two, and was wondering which to go with? BTW, I've got an HVX - no 35mm adapter (yet).

I haven't tried the DVrig Pro, so I can't compare. They seem kind of different beasts, though.

One thing. I like the multirig b/c of it's portability. I could fold that thing up and put it in my camera bag and take it on the plane with me to indonesia... That was a great thing.

So much so, that now that I'm using a 35 adapter for the first time, and it can't bear the load, I was wondering if I might be able to still use it. I emailed Danny and asked about stronger springs for the support rod. He has 'em and they are like 5 bucks a piece. There are two springs in the rod. Replace one if you need a little extra weight bearing, or both if you need a lot. I got both and 10 bucks shipping, so it's like 20 bucks for them. I also got the belt for the support rod.

that said, when I get this stuff, I'm going to be doing some more extensive testing with the rig, and test it with the 35 adapter, adn will report back. I'll probably just do a whole new (better) article about it, and post some footy and all too.

Anyways, one thing: multirigpro is super portable when not in use, and is configurable. The ability to get stronger springs for the support rod may make it very viable for 35 adapter use as well. I'll report back in a few weeks or so.

later,
Jason

Thanks Jason. I was going to PM you directly (As you are the author of the article) but ultimately decided to ask the question of everyone.

I had planned on getting a DVRig Pro until reading the article about the MultiRig. I think the DVRig Pro looks solid, but the Multi offers greater versatility.

I was hoping someone had tried them both so they could make their own comparison/comments.

Looking forward to your revised review, Jason.
