Download And Vote

Maybe for the next contest, the standard format for the vids should be something a little better and easier to use than Quicktime considering people were having so many problems. Perhaps WMV or DIVX.

/Not a QT fan. At all.

not sure if anyone else is having this problem but the localhost ones dont do anything for me. They say i cant connect to server. The other ones work but i dont want to download them all seperate. :-(

I'm on a mac and having the same issue. With Hero/Sci fest I didn't have this problem. What am I doing wrong?

Can anyone help?
Thanks

First. Thanks everyone for uploading and mirroring every thing.
Second. I can't wait until 1:30 when I get home from work to start viewing. I just know it's going to rock.
Thanks again

no it should be a bit more neutral like flash. It might be easier on the bandwidth too.

I use a mac. WMV always gives me problems. Not a WMV fan. AT ALL!

sorry guys.. I crashed my server.

No more downloads from me.

no telling if I'll ever get it back! :) it was fun for a little while.

man, I just hope he lets me have it back. I know i pulled in 150 GB in just 1 day, so I"m sure there were all sorts of alarms and whistles going off to suspend and shut down the account.

It feels good to crash a server. :)

I didnt enter a film so this is not at all based on that....but after seeing how the site is setup to download the films it seems as it may be unfair as they are in a list format and im sure the film nearing the top will be viewed alot more then others....might wanna figure out a diffrent way to organize the films...just a thought.

We tried a random distribution system in the past and it had other issues. In particular as you watched most of the films it became increasingly difficult to get the last few to come up.

This proves to be the easiest to administer without building an elaborate viewing system.

I think that most people watch most of the films, so the far that don't watch them all don't mess up the curve too much.

We are working on an improved system for initial upload and mirror distribution, perhaps that will make it easier to view all the films.

If you have any ideas for improving the viewing system, please share them wid love to hear them.

Peace,
Larry

torrents, as mentioned to Jarred... it's the way to go... everyone's internet connected PC working together. that's literally dozens of servers. instead of 3 or 4.

we did wmv a few fests ago and all hell broke loose. QT is at least a dual platform codec, WMV is not, even though flip has moved mountains.

The biggest problem was the localhost files all became corrupt.. that should be fixed with the new links.

Tell them next time you will put the name of their company up somewhere in the next contest for some extra gigs. :)
