Dolgin Engineering DC Converter.

Just got one the other day, and looks to be pretty nice. There is one quandary though. When hooked up, the battery power indicator shows a half empty battery. Does that sound right?

The standard battery is 7.2 volts, and so isn't the converter. I wonder whether the partially drained meter is due to pulse wave modulation on the converter?

Anyone used this converter yet who can tell me?

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Dolgin Engineering DC Converter.

Yes Scott, it is normal. A fully charged battery is about 8V, while almost empty is about 6.6. So the camera indicator shows that the battery is about half charged, as the converter puts out precisely 7.2V.

Hi Alex!

Got your email. Thank you very much for such a rapid response! You tracked me down here too. ;D

Looks like this unit is going to extend the life of a battery pack by not draining off a 4.8 volt differential into wasted heat.

Very, very nice.
