Atomos AtomX SDI is announced (could use a compact Ninja V with a FS700!)

FX9 requires a high bit depth recording. I don't know if the Ninja V has the horsepower for all that data. I believe that Atomos has stated their yet-to-be-released Neon monitor/recorders will capture FX9 RAW data, which says to me a new architecture may have been necessary.

The new sony f6 and f9 cameras will have a sony propiatory raw codec. I doubt they will let anyone else change that.

Right now my thinking is to eliminate the need for an external recorder. To me it is a pain - and more things to go wrong. At this time I do not need files that size. I think just using the cards I will get 4:2:2 10 bit - for what I do that is enough. Plus I saw a a very long video with Allister Chapman explaining the FX9 - and it appears there is a setting right out of camera that gives good results. Its been awhile so I do not remember what it was.

Should I need anything more I figure I will just rent maybe or hire owner operator of RED/ARRI - done that before.

Not sure if you remember i meet you at 2019NAB we had a long discussion - I was impressed with EVA-1. Great low light, etc. Problem was no built in viewfinder- By the time I rigged it out I could have bought FS7 - I am happy I waited as the FX9 seems to be big improvement

Also waiting to see if their is FX-6 and see if that suites my needs.

So the 7Q is still the only recorder for the FS700? I want to buy a cheap 4K camera and FS700 and C500 MK1 are on my radar. I think the C500 must have the 7Q. If the FS700 could have a smaller or cheaper recorder it would sure be points for it over C500. The other option is ursa mini pro. But somehow fear because of the bad rep. At least I know FS700 or C500 will always work.

No I think ATOMOS makes one or two - forgot the name. I think they are 7". Get SDI as far FS700R goes, that is where you will get RAW. Make sure the camera when you buy it has the ability to output RAW or has been updated. 7Q+ will also work well, except they no longer update it. If were to by another 7" recorder I would buy ATOMOS products because convergent design just stopped updating 7Q+ units and in the 4K mode you cannot hear audio playback. The audio is there but you won't hear on playback. I called support I was told they probably won't fix it in a new firmware upgrade. At least that is my understanding. C500 really nice camera but do not know much about it.
