AJ-SPX900E Menu Help

Recently picked up a SPX900E for £55. Just trying to figure out how to get into the System Menu. I know you hold the menu button down for 3 seconds and it should show. However it only shows me the User Menu. Any idea on how to get it to work + any tips/advice regarding the camera.

It’s possibly been “locked”. Some cameras back in the day had a menu option to lock “normal” users out of the more advanced and in-depth menu system of the camera to prevent them from really screwing things up. Think local TV station photogs and the station engineers. When this happened, It usually required a specific sequence and or multiple, simultaneous button/switch actuations to be able to access it. Search Panasonic’s site or Google for the operations manual.
 
Found the manual after a quick Google search and just as I thought, it’s like my VariCam’s, you can “lock it”. It’s called ENG SECURITY and it’s in that cameras OPTION menu (hold down the LIGHT button while pressing MENU). I do not know if simply accessing the OPTION menu again will allow you to simply turn the lock option off or not. In the manual it states that if this is activated that you will need to call a service center for help. I know that I was told how to get back in when I bought my cameras, but that has been so long ago, I can’t remember if it is as simple as just accessing the OPTION menu again or if it was a more involved button sequence.

I've used it many times when I'm managing a fleet of cameras on big reality shows and sports, like the Olympics, to ensure some things cannot be changed by the shooters. TV stations like it too. No matter how experienced the operators are it helps reduce the chances of a mistake being made.

Wow, I did not know this. This would make a lot of sense! I'll give that a go now and write back with my results. Much love for the responses!
 
Update: still no luck. I've tried all sorts of button combos, even tried powering the camera up with certain buttons pressed and still nothing. I'll have a read of the service manual
 
Ok, just emailed Panasonic Broadcast UK. Basically said I don't care how much it might cost just please tell me you have a way to unlock it. I'm shocked there isn't some special button combination that can force it off. Maybe there is, all I can say is is that I hope to God they can help cus otherwise I might have to sell it on and try and find one without the eng security featured turned on. I even emailed the auction house I got it from in hopes to get in touch with the original owners and see if they can be of any help.
 
I just reached out to one of my long time sales reps and asked if they remembered how to get back into the menu after the engineering security lock-out was engaged. I’ll post of I hear anything.
 
My rep said to try LIGHT + HOLD + MENU. That is supposed to be the sequence for the HDX and HPX series. Maybe it works for the SPX, as well.
