Has anyone looked into the Sony Camera Remote API beta SDK. It seems like it could lead to perhaps opening up some interesting options that are available on other Sony cameras. And it also be a good alternative to the current "Sony Play Memories and Remote apps" that has such limited use for...

Nothing to exciting here. It does boot up a bit faster, but nothing else has been addressed that I can see
Here is my experience with the Nikon D7100 using a Blackmagic Hyperdeck Shuttle 2.
First off you can only get a clean full frame HDMI signal with the D7100 set to live video mode, live picture mode outputs a cropped 720 size image only. The output of the D7100 can be clean with no menus and is...
I’m planning to re-engineer my GH2 into a different form factor and add a few features that would evolve it into a more rugged and user friendly camera. I will be using the entire components from the GH2 along with some much needed added features. Here is the list of what I am planning along...
With all the hacking being done to the GH2 I have not given up on my old GH1. I feel that it offers a cleaner image when properly exposed and it has a more smoother filmatic look them the GH2. I have tweaked my current 24p GOP1 settings and it now provides excellent detail and much less...
I have been using this 24p GOP 3 patch with my GH1 for a month now and it is very stable with excellent detail in motion and shadows. It will peak up to 65Mbps and works well in low light scenes. It produces an average of 45Mbps. Best used with SanDisk extreme 30Mbps cards.
Please give it a...
I have been playing with a 1 GOP - 24p patch that works well for normal detail scenes.
It will crash with static extreme detail and very dark scenes but the cool thing is it will still write the file to the card if it does crash.
I am posting this for experimental purposes only, please test...
I have been using several 1080 24p patch for over a year and finally found one that is stable in all conditions. This is a 12 gop, 220 Mbps patch that averages about 36 Mbps on very high detail scenes with no crashes in motion or locked off framing. I have only tested the 24p mode using a...
I'm thinking of adding a Go Pro hero to an upcoming production with our GH13's & GH2's. The specs don't look to impressive 15Mbits H264 codec might be a bit weak to match up with the GH's. However the size might be perfect . Any thoughts?
I have been playing with a new patch which nets me 65Mbps and some high lower end bit rates in dark scenes. I filmed this short in 24p using the 14-140 kit lens, with available light from a window. The results are stunning. Most clips were filmed at f5.6 ISO 640. 1/50 with a couple at f11 ISO...
I have been trying with some success to use the 24p mode in Ptools, but one thing that confuses me is why the frame rate recorded is 23.9712345 not 23.9760235 as it should be. They import into Avid and AE ok - well without any errors - but this doesn't seem right at all. Is there a possible...
This is a prototyoe version of the EVF Eyecup for a GH1 and GH2. It consists of an aluminium base plate with a large rubber eyecup, which fits perfectly into the existing EVF and is mounted by sliding it in to the cameras hotshoe bracket. There is also an option to add a coldshoe to top of the...
Would anybody be interested in a custom EVF Eyecup for a GH1 and GH2. It consists of a rubberized aluminium base plate with a large rubber eyecup, which fits perfectly into the existing EVF and is mounted by sliding it in to the cameras hotshoe bracket. There is also an option to add a coldshoe...
My GH2 seems to have more noise and grain at iso 160 - 800 than my GH13 at iso 100 to 640.
I have done some tests and filmed a bunch of stuff with the 2 cameras since Dec 3 and Im not to impressed with the GH2 noise / grain results. I love the ETC but it even seems to add a bit more noise...
Can you guys tell which looks better.
I did a rough test between my GH2 and GH13 both in 24p with a Canon 50mm fd lens at f1.8 . All settings are manual, Film mode Nostalgic contrast -2, sharpness -2, saturation-2, noise red +1. white balance 5600k. shutter 1/50. iso was set at proper...
I have been using a completely stable 24fps 1080p setting for 3 weeks with perfect results. I have filmed in several locations in all kinds of conditions and scenes, without any crashes or errors using this patch. With no limitation to camera setup – using any shutter speed, ISO, OIS, AF, WB...
I was able to set this up in the version of ptools I'm running. Recorded 3x 10 minute timelapse and It works pretty good @1920x1080 - 2fps - 422 70Mbps - 94 Mbps. I will post some links to footage once I upload them to vimeo.
