In the video below, there is an interesting use of S-Log2. It allows to show the background without clipping, but after grading, it introduces clipping in the background, not too much, but it clips. I was wondering if thee is a way to recover the contrast and gamma of the image, mainly in...
I am developing a software to allow extraction of the two different isos of dual iso recording. h264 instead of raw recording, using magic lantern firmware and dual iso module enabled for h264, please take a look:
Neatvideo presets for D5200
Neatvideo presets for D5200
Based on the original footage from camera downloaded from vimeo I developed two Neat video preset settings for the D5200. The footage did not allow me to extract the noise profiles, so just the denoise settings was done.
The...
How do I chose a camera: Remember you do not need to agree with me. What is good for me can be bad for you. But if you want better DR for an affordable price think about this:
First I was hungry for a high resolution, moire/aliasing free, no compression artifacts camera. I could not...

I am interested in use the Magic Lantern HDR video feature, and I know it works best in 720p because it allows to shot at 60fps or 48fps and get two streams at 30fps or 24fps to do merge.
So I would like to know about the 720p quality in Canon DSLRs. I downloaded some footage and I saw a mix of...
Did some tests with i.dynamic and found it works great to bring up exposure in shadows areas in contrast scenes.
But this just works with the lumix lens.
When i try it with a nikon or canon fd lens the feature does not work properly. It just get enabled when there is some amount of...
Hi, about the nikon d3200 i would like to know if it is possible to use an external monitor using the av out cable when the live view is enable.
I know it is possible using hdmi, but the av out would let me use a cheap wireless lcd monitor.
can some owner test this please? thanks.
Hi everybody. could someone who owns a d3200 upload some 12800 iso raw footage to vimeo? i just would like to try neatvideo noise reduction to see how it looks like. i did some tests with neatvideo in gh2 12800 and it looks great, please take a look: https://vimeo.com/34890589

after see magic lantern hdr video working i got this idea
a future version of gh2 (maybe GH4) could have two iso in same image to build a hdr stream
half pixels at iso 100, half pixels at iso 800 and merge two video streams into one hdr video
same shutter speed, same fps, same lens aperture...
The pixel count of 5D Mark III is very inteligent and smart. For 16x9 video it will be 5760 x 3240 pixels.
5760 = 1920 x 3 and 3240 = 1080 x 3
So probably the camera will take one pixel from each 9 pixels block. This will probably avoid moire/aliasing and increase resolution.
If Canon could...
