This has got me beat!
In the last 12 months I've been getting random corrupted frames from my 2 Sony Camcorders, both record to their respective SSDs.
Have a look at the attached frame and let me know if you're experiencing this problem. It seems to happen in about 40% of the footage I shoot. I...
I want to add my experience with 16mm film zoom lenses and my advice is, forget it! The vignetting is unacceptable not to mention the infinity & back focussing issues you'll have.
I took the 17-69mm lens from my 16mm Krasnogorsk 3 film cam and mounted it to my AF102 using an M42 to M4/3...
Hey guys, I saw this in my search for a general purpose super-zoom: Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD
Image stabilised and with a very quiet Piezo Drive Auto-focus system all selling for around $700 It comes in Nikon or Canon mount (I'm thinking the Nikon would be best because you'd...
Hi peeps,
I stumbled across these SanDisk SxS cards selling for $90USD and was wondering if anyone had tried them before. They seem too cheap to be genuine SanDisk even though the seller claims they are 100% genuine & will overcrank in the EX1 with no problems - he has over 1000 of these in...
Paul I can confirm that the footage is actually 25P in a 50i wrapper, there is no evidence of interlaced jaggies present even on the fastest moving scenes.
Here's a screen grab of a horizontal whip pan from a current project that is set to 1910x1080 @ 50i no de-interlacing has been applied:
Hey Vegas users are probably already aware that Sony has just pre-released a Pro version 9.0 which claims to handle AVCHD without transcoding. I wonder though... has anyone actually tried to see if the strobing issues with HMC flavoured AVCHD @ 720 50/60P have been resolved yet?
Please let us...
I've had my camera for about 3 months and all the footage I've been shooting under artificial light, especially under Compact Fluoro & Mercury Vapour lights, produces horrible rolling bars in all my D90 videos. Are other peeps who live in a PAL or 50Hz country experiencing this?
I see no...
Here's something we produced earlier this month, shot entirely using two HMC-152 cameras and edited in Vegas 8 (50P footage transcoded using Edius because Vegas chokes on it).

Last Sunday I made the mistake of shooting over 50GB of footage from an event in 720 50P :crybaby: now I'm trying to edit a 5 minute highlight of the day's events and the footage is stuttering all over the place regardless of whether I'm just playing it back on the time line or rendering it out...
Okay so yesterday I spent 14 hours shooting a wedding with our new HMC152 for the first time so here is my evaluation for those that interested in buying this camera for shooting run & gun work.
Traditionally being a DVX user, we had to change to Canon & JVC when we went HD but this new HMC...
This goes out to anyone interested in installing a 35mm DOF adaptor on their XH-A1/G1 but does not want to buy an additional flip module.
It is a very simple addition of a mini SPST sliding switch available at any electronics shop.
The flipping switch for this model camera is actually cam...
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this before, however, on my new HV30 I found that if I choose either the Spotlight or Sunset modes, the AGC is disabled completely! :)
The camera will still automatically choose the aperture & shutter settings but geez I much prefer that to having the...
I recently bought an aftermarket battery on ebay that the seller claims is for the A1, however, when I received it I looked at the terminals and noticed that it only has (+) & (-) contacts and is missing the other 3 terminals that appear on the genuine Canon battery that came with the A1.
The...
Hi folks,
Whenever I try to capture footage shoot in 16:9 DV mode (SD) on my XH-A1, Vegas Pro 8 does not recognise the camera. The only way I get around this is to take the tape out of the XH-A1 and capture it through my DVX which is usually okay except for the occasional frame skips.
Is...
Hi folks,
I already own an XL2 and now considering buying an A1 however, I want to know from existing A1 owners who have used other cameras (XL2 or DVX) tell me what the tacktile feeling & responsiveness of the lens controls is like; (by the way, I'm not a fan of the XL2 lens controls).
1)...
I'm an owner of a PAL DVX and PAL XL2 and I'm in the process of selling the XL2 to upgrade to an HVX.
I'd rather not buy another 2 DVXs because I'm thinking of moving into HD next year, however for the moment I intend to continue shooting in SD via MiniDV even with the HVX.
I have 3 newbie...
Hi all,
After many exhaustive attempts to try and colour match the footage from our XL2 to our DVX for multi-cam shoots I'm now reaching the limits of my patience. I'm wasting too much time colour matching in post.
1) Are there any owners of both cams out there who have been able to do this...
Hi guys,
As a DVX & XL2 events shooter I get annoyed when I see some claims made by other videographers. Anyhow I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right area however...
I found this 'professional' videographer who says that he shoots events with available light only using some Panasonic...
After having completed some more weddings in the last two months, I've realised how much more I hate the unresponsiveness of the XL2 stock lens controls.
Can anyone recommend a supplier that sells the Canon 16x Manual Lens at a good price or an alternative manual lens solution?
I've tried...
I used my new XL2 on a professional shoot (a wedding) for the first time last weekend together with my trusty DVX. (Both cams were setup for 25P @ 16:9 and tweaked to obtain the best cine-film emulation I could get.)
After my experience on the day and now having reviewed all the footage, I can...
