Hey guys, honestly, can the quality of your LCD panel effect the way your footage looks?
My hpx170 footage looks horrible, noisy, and soft on my Samsung 22" lcd panel but incredible on my buddys MacPro.
Could LCD be the difference?
I know what longGOP is, and I know what goes into creating a GOP, and it's benefits and limitation and so forth, but I dont understand why it takes so much horsepower on the post side of things to edit Long Gop footage.
I know that you have to transcode to an I Frame format to edit long gop...
Hey guys. Got an HPX170, Zeiss glass, and Brevis35.
Now My question is, what is the best way to go handheld with this rig?
I am considering buying the Cinevate grips and shoulder pad, but it seems strange that all the weight of the rig will be bearing down on that one screw..Unless it is...
Hey guys,
I'll get right to it.
I have a shoot at the beach on sunday and need a battery delivered by then so that I'll be prepared to shoot all day with no AC power.
ANyways, in your opinions, what is the longest lasting, best battery for the HVX200/HPX170 at the moment?
I am looking at...
I know this has been covered before, but when editing DVCPROHD 720p footage in Adobe Premiere CS3, how do I export a video in it's proper pixel aspect ratio??
When I export clips with the setting "960x720, 1.33 pixel aspect" I get squeezed footage.
Should I just force the footage to be...
Hey guys, my friend shot a short film in 24pA and I'm editing it with Premiere Pro CS3.
Now, one of my project settings options is "Dv 24p, for footage shot in 24p or 24pA". It is also said to use "progressive rendering"
So this means that pulldown is auotomatically removed upon capture...
My client just brought me footage from japan shot on a japanese camcorder, and she wants me to intercut it with DVCPRO HD 24pN footage off my hpx170.....how the heck do I do that? It's two different refresh and frame rates..
I'm stuck
I'm a bit confused as to what processing goes on in the HVX DSP when these gamma settings are used..
Does CineV simply amplify the signal in the midtones and lower the signal in the shadows/blacks ect to create higher contrast? In this case, wouldn't CineV be noisier in midtones?
Or
Does...
The component output on my HPX170 is not working. I've used the component out to connect the camera to a number of displays, and so far, nada.
I have the SDI/component out setting set to Auto, but beyond that, is there anything I can do, or any menu option i'm unaware of, that would allow the...
Hey.
I am deciding whether to use Kinos or my Lowel Tungsten lights to light a hotel interior.
My question is, when both lights are balanced to white, which looks best on skin tones and why?
I'll be using either a kino 4bank or a Lowel Rifa88
It is a romantic scene
What causes video noise, and why do lower end video cameras exhibit higher levels of noise than others.
Is it more prevalent when the camera is balanced for very warm or very blue light? (gained up color channels = noise)
Why is it more prevalent in low light, even with gain at Zero...
We're all familiar with the barrel distortion caused by shooting on 1/3" cams at their shortest focal length.
My question is,
Is the same distortion caused when shooting with short focal length 35mm lenses?
A 18mm lens is extremely wide on a 35mm camera, comparable in field of view to a...
Hey guys, I wanted to get your opinions on something I do.
usually, if I notice a great deal of smudge or grime on my lens, I'll blast it with compressed air, then breathe some hot air onto the lens, and immidiately wipe it off with a microfibre cloth.
Do you guys do this? Should I not...
I read this over on the RedUser boards
David Mullen, ASC - " I don't think it's reasonable to expect the blue channel to be completely noiseless in 3200K -- just as the blue layer in 500T film stock is the grainiest layer."
I know my digital sensors, especially ones using Bayer filters, have...
