    Pretty damn QUIET in here.......

On my Tidal music streaming service, I noticed a marked increase in animated album covers, decrease in general photography. Seems like all facets of production are undergoing change. TV commecials too, Biberty Biberty Mutual.. On memory lane a movie was promoted if "shot on location" and regular...

    EOS: R5mk2 - any thoughts

The Zeiss Otus is a manual-only focus prime. That's why I mentioned it. I don't recall the Nikon Z lenses behaving in the way you described but I honestly don't recall if I ever tried. I have a few of them, tack sharp but one of the reasons for getting them was to have a mirrorless camera with...

    EOS: R5mk2 - any thoughts

A brilliant innovation of the Zeiss Otus cleverly displays the focus plane in the viewfinder avoiding fail by flopp string artifacts.

    Pretty damn QUIET in here.......

I can tell you why I don't bother writing here, over-moderation. If anyone says anything the least bit controversial, even in a so-called off-topic area intended for the purpose, they are scolded and topics locked. Not only, they discouraged conversations about camera equipment to give a boost...

Does nobody really use DVXuser anymore?

I've never had a facebook account. I wish it were possible to check in on a few things, family connections etc. without opening an account, no real interest in posting. I seem to be down to about once a month on DVXUser because every time I login it's time to reverify for 30 days, but I do read...

I absolutely remember that, the Sony F55 Community Forum and the involvement of terrific reps, responsive; was very special, and very sad when it ended. I remember you being a regular contributor, Dennis Hinsburg, Doug Jensen, quite a few others and as well, Alister Chapman. I would draw a few...

    CX370: New Panasonic 1" Camera - CX-370

I am by no means the audio expert but you don't have to be one to know that close-mic'd solves a lot of problems. Manning 1 camera position with a directional mic on top is one thing but if you are using 2 or 3 cams you are hoping that at least one you can cut to and not have a blocked shot. I...

    CX370: New Panasonic 1" Camera - CX-370

I think about it more in terms of the sound of a mic in front of someone vs a sensitive mic that's picking up all the other sounds in the room. I'm not doing the same things necessarily but I don't want all the extraneous sounds of the room in front of the speaker's voice.

    CX370: New Panasonic 1" Camera - CX-370

I can't imagine not needing external recorders, weddings, dj, recitals, book signings, TedX, auctions, corporate meetings; There's always a need. I bring numerous Tascam, Zoom, lav mics, cables and small tripods for recording non-amplified musicians, speakers, just part of the kit, sometimes up...

Resolve - Official, ProRes rendering on Windows!

It's Prores "Raw" that creates some controversy. John Brawley says Apple and BMD have a strong cooperative relationship in general but it doesn't seem to extend to Prores Raw which is a more direct competitor to BMD's own BRAW. Prores raw doesn't seem to be a native format on too many cameras...

Resolve - Official, ProRes rendering on Windows!

That's welcome. For Prores I've used ffmpeg but Resolve now saves a step.
