I used the german Braun Nizo 561macro. I almost bought a Canon but was having trouble finding one with all the features I wanted in good condition. Also concerned about reports of aged rubber parts turning to jelly. After some research I found the Nizo line. Compared to other manufacturers the...
Finally something I can share! I was DP on this film (and technically editor). And I can say film because this is my first outing shooting on film (super 8) and after years of technical comparisons and pixel peeping re: digital vs film, it all goes out the window. There is something magical...
The shoot35 mattebox is height adjustable.
You might still need to get one of those smallrig 30mm offset brackets and use the mattebox for fine tuning. Or you could remove one of the three screws entirely for more adjustment range on the mattebox.
I am looking for a new baseplate to build a new rig from the ground up. I'm looking for a VCT compatible baseplate so that camera is balanced on both shoulder and tripod without adjustment. Getting sick of the workarounds and being distracted from the job at hand. My gear shouldn't be getting in...
What's in the box? A metaphor?
Marching orders for my Nikons...
Ooops, how did this get on here :lipsrseal
My new ladies :love4:
The aftermath...
Unfortunately I might not even get to have a proper play this weekend. Unfortunately people who are good for my career keep asking me to work...
Just a quick question. Got a photographer friend using a DSLR looking for a video tripod. Haven't yet convinced him it's worth spending the big bucks (he will learn) but at least unlike a lot of DSLR guys I've worked with locally he understands his photography tripod isn't up to task.
It's...
Found this on kickstarter. It will power 5V usb devices such as sound recorders. Lightweight since it doesn't use batteries, it uses a fuel generator that runs on lighter fluid. Weighs between 160-200g depending on fuel level. I find the form factor more attractive than something like the DVD...
I'm determined to make 2015 the year I stop letting life get in the way. A good way to start would be to have some scripts to start the ball rolling before January gets away from me and the whole year is lost. It will also allow me to map out the year and take the pressure off me to do it all...
Hoping for a simple answer. Did a quick search but with a deadline looming I can't spare too much time.
I am working on a corporate project that basically consists of questions with multiple responses which I thought it would be clever to organise into several sequences, one for each question...
Yeah, you don't want reflective material. That's why muslin or matte paint is preferred. Reflective surfaces will show up white in patches and not key well. There are plenty of cheap muslins on ebay. I got a 10'x20' one for under $40 delivered.
Scrotnig thrill seekers!
Upcoming documentary about the story behind 2000AD. Promises to contain much more colourful language than you'll ever see in a Stan Lee interview.

I enjoyed the Dredd movie, it was a genuine effort of capturing the darker...
A good script gets good actors. Pay for your script or have it edited by a pro. Put on amazing catering instead of pizzas. Cover everyones travel expenses if you can. If there's anything left on top of that then token pay is still a nice gesture. A good script, good food and a positive work...
sonofaresiii - I genuinely appreciate your sentiment and I thought twice before including some of that information. I am proud of my first effort, especially under the circumstances but I can see dozens of things I could have should have done differently in the face of the same issues. I cut...
Thanks for all the responses.
David - I thought my biggest mistake was overlighting the boys but you are totally right. Failing to present the girls at their best is almost a crime on my part. They were stunning as well and I didn't do them justice. Not all my fault but I could have done more...
The equipment:
The location was a football club bar. The room was pretty dark, lit to give the fuglies a chance with beer goggled footballers! The extras didn't need it. The practical lighting consisted of 30-50 spotlights, the kind you might use to light the entertainment area of your...
I was involved in making a short last week. It's just a simple hack script to generate some footage for a reel. It was my first time working with a crew bigger than two and I loved it. I was responsible for the lighting. It was my first time lighting on location. A very different challenge from...
At work I've been poking fun at the quality of our internal video presentations ever since I started my video journey. So my manager has put me on the spot at short notice - two days. Our operations manager (second only to the CEO) is coming over to give a presentation and my manager put me...
I've been thinking a lot about collaborations and creative partnerships lately. Initially from a writing perspective - I've made a real push to de-ego myself over the last year in terms of ownership of ideas and collaboration. It has lead me to discover how much I enjoy being released from my...
