I find myself copying SD cards to my Macbook Pro while driving. Is there an automation that would import to a library automatically once an SD is copied to an SSD folder? It's a pain pulling over for each card every day.
Current workflow:
1. Plug in SD and close the stupid FCPX import window...
I've used Zoom H2 series recorders in front of the PA for years. I get audio and room ambience. With the new mega-cheap guitar-to-amp wireless systems, should I consider transmitting my Zoom to my camera as an alternative to syncing in post with the Zoom's SD card? I could finally monitor audio...
I originally thought this was corruption, but all my libraries seem to differ; After deleting the Transcoded and Render files, my folder size is 336GB. But when I Show Package Contents all the folders combined don't add up to anywhere near 336GB. Are their large hidden files beyond the...
It's 2015, but for some reason nobody is producing a pocket sized recorder with decent sound quality. The Zoom H2 is close, but it is too fat and the stereo input pops out when it feels like it. The MemoQ is exactly what I've been looking for (an all-in-one on the lapel itself) but it sounds...
Hi all,
I am missing audio from a Zoom H2 recording. Some of it is there, but in another part of the same clip the audio is dead, though it seems to show up as a ghosted waveform.
You can see the working audio at the end of the clip, but in the middle, all I have is a 'greyed out' waveform...
When I bought our Canon T2i we used it as a panic cam for filming wedding video. We use video cams instead. I haven't trusted HDSLRs because of:
1. Overheating shut down
2. 12 minute shut down
3. Lack of info per foot distance for follow focus
4. Lack of simultaneous manual zoom and focus...
Strange, but often reoccurring problem. I format each of my cards before a wedding, and quite often when I look at the footage of the newer wedding the older one is still there too on one of the cards. I'm thinking this is a card failure. Has anyone had this happen? I use Sandisk 32gb Ultra II.
Just switched to FCPX and decided that since the file structure is so different I decided to build two RAID1 drives. Bay one for OS, Bay 2 & 3 for Media/Render files, Bay 4 and an eSATA external for Project files.
I think one of the two RAID1s have to go. Would the Project file RAID1 bring...
I've got most of the files I need. I tried copying the Private folder to a blank card, and it won't play on the camera. Per the pic I'm missing two of the mts files, thumb.tid, thumb.tdt, movieobj.bdm, index.bdm, and 00000.mpl from the playlist. I can copy everything but the mts files from...
Switching to FCPX and restructuring my workflow:
• Bay 1: Lion OS
• Bay 2: Raid 1a - For Project Files
• Bay 3: Raid 1b - dup of Raid 1a
• Bay 4: Render files
• Airport USB External: RAID 1 for all ISO files, and raw files (all SD cards copied here for network purposes), family photos/videos...
This may sound crazy, but I could swear I get more artifacting when my computer is over-taxed. Is this even possible? We film weddings and always use the same settings. (FCP7 to Quicktime to Compressor to Encore). 6.8 average bitrate, one pass CBR.
Am I smoking crack?
I just created a new partition on my main drive, so it want it to have FCPX there, and FCP7 on the main drive under Lion. Since I already have Lion, and the APP store won't let me download it again for the partition, I'm wondering if my partition needs the OS, or if I can just put FCPX there...
I can't seem to export anything in FCP7 without an Out of Memory error. This began after installing FCPX on the same HDD. I later read somewhere that it's foolish to put them on the same HDD, but it looks like that's the source of the error. I'm getting the same thing on several projects, and...
I don't have the original files -- just the M2V, but I need to either refilm or somehow layer new jpg slides over some of the content. I use FCP/Encore.
Thoughts?
Is there any way to shorten the render time for a PIP that lasts several hours? The render time is many times as long and I have ten more hours of PIP left to produce.
I'm using AVC-HD with ProRes 1920 x 1080 compressed to MPEG-2.
Since I'm converting to SD anyway, is there any way I can...
I'm trying to figure out this sound. It sounds like typical interference, but I'm not wireless. This is a Giant Squid lav plugged into a Zoom H2 recorder. Visually it doesn't appear to be rubbing either.
Here it is ::Drogar-Thinking(DBG

It doesn't sound...
I've got to be doing this wrong:
1. Sync clips
2. Make Multiclip
3. Edit Multiclip
4. Color correct individual clip and Copy it
5. Painstakingly select every clip from that camera angle and Paste Attributes to make the color correction universal.
Being self-taught has its drawbacks.
I've got a unique situation where the the client wants SD and the editor won't touch HD, so I need to convert AVCHD files to SD before mailing the HDD to the editor. Am I going to take a quality hit for converting before instead of after?
I'm assuming I'll need to first transcode the...
I've been having problems with mid-tone detail in daylight shots. These detail shots make the subjects look like they have serious burns on their face, though they seem to be properly exposed (especially his forehead). I get a strong line between the highs and lows. I'm using F6 scene file (I...
