    F35: HDR video

    Hi everyone!

Like most people in here probably realized I have been having quite a lot of free time recently, spending most of my time thinking about my F35 rig. And the main think I have been thinking about is how to get the most out of this beast. I shot some night footage recently, and did some simple grading, but I also took the advantage to try to figure out if it is possible to grade F35 footage for HDR monitors.

Now I don't have an HDR monitor, so this was more a proof of concept, but this is what I ended up with.

If you have a iPhone X or newer it should work, or a HDR TV (since this is HLG)

Visited Hawk anamorphic today and tested all their 1.33x lenses

This is a poorly done grade with the first test I did with the V-lites at a 4/5.6

I will post the others as well

          Yet another test is up.

I went to a local rental house (Evidence cameras) and put on the P+S 1.5 35-70 anamorphic zoom and man does it make it look the way it was meant.

Yes of course there is all the faults of anamorphic, but 1.5x really looks like the anamorphic you would want on this sensor.

          Uploaded it here:

Another part of my test posted.

Still figuring out HDR export modes. This was under exposed from the start though.

            This was the Hawk T1's

Updated so links are now videos.

Will get a HDR monitor this coming month, but still haven't figured out the ideal YT workflow...

This kid really knows what he is talking about. Yes this is a faux-HDR-workflow, but as long as you can preview it on a HDR monitor, you can sort of figure it out.

Would I use this on a feature? No.

                  On a personal project? Possibly

Some new tests I did with the Meike 35mm T2.1 and the Tokina 25-75 T2.9.

I also learnt that yo get the most out of the F35 footage, upscale to 8K in Davinci, and then export to 4k and upload, by FAR gives a better result.

Favourite is still upscale to 8k (3x) and upload in 8k. The files are massive and takes days to upload. But it looks REALLY good.
