FS7: A day of gun powder and clay pigeons

Managed to down our drone today... unfortunately in such a way that the gimbal motor got ruined, so need repairs now.

Luckily I had brought the FS7 as well, so I ended up with that on my shoulder for the entire day. Again... I love this camera for what it is and can do. Even with just the stock 28-135 lens.

These are just some quick clips I wanted to share with my co-worker who did the stills today. Hopefully it will amount to something useful without the drone shots.

I love that everyone is dressed in a subdued, earth-toned color palette as if it is still 1880. No, seriously, I do.

Can't wait to hear the "rest of the story". Drone take out a clay pigeon on its way down?
They are sure fun to fly... but also one big headache when there are problems (have been fortunate to only down mine once - and thankfully it was minor & survived the fall).

Well it is taken quite seriously. I'm not a hunting type myself, but I am facinated with those types of recreation where attire still matters. In my opinion it elevates the experience for the participants... you step into a world, if only for a brief periode.

"The rest of the story" isn't too fancy... I forgot that POI doesn't have obstacle avoidance and managed to land the drone in a tree some 60' up. Ended up getting it back down with a lift crane, but the gimbal had come loose and a leg was broken. It could still fly and record, but the stabilization was dead.

But in hindsight...... I was booked to only do drone footage for the entire video. But I think what I got with the FS7 I couldn't have made with the P4 alone.... the shots are much more intimate and intense than if I had been cruising up above doing vista shots. Ofc we have offered the client to come back and "mend the damage", if he was interested after the drone has been repaired.
