    Rifa Pro 44 Light Kit

Has anyone tried this kit? They are tiny lights but put out a lot of light. I was thinking that the key light is too bright and if an umbrella or scrim would be effective in cutting it down. I'm not sure if my subjects will be able to read the teleprompter!

    I have the 2 light kit with a Pro-light and rifa-lite 44. 500 watts total power

    Rifa et all...

    Hi there,

I have passed three news crews (on the street) in the last couple of weeks that use this kit (with Rifa.) If your subjects are reading teleprompters, they (the prompters) usually have some sort of mask around them so that the light does not interfere. Also the placement of the lights and distance to subject are key factors in their ability to read said prompter.

If your key is too bright, try some frost to diffuse the light if you don't have a spare umbrella or bounce lying around. Your Rifa should do the trick, along with another diffused light and possibly backlight, depending on what your needs are. I have used the Rifa and it works fine for interview type situations.

There a good basic demonstrations on the kit here:

    Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the link! Do you think a scrim or an umbrella would be more effective? I think I heard that scrims reduce intensity but don't diffuse. So an umbrella would do both?
