I concur with John. You could use the high beams on a '97 Neon if it fit the story, you knew what you were doing. Illumination doesn't care what it looks like as long as it's shooting photons, so don't get caught up on your fixtures. Just make sure you know how to use 'em.

No I didn't make the boxes. They are from a TV news station. I work in TV so I get equipment for free sometimes, if I bug people long enough. I can't remember the name, but the curtain lights and the boxes are all made by the same people.

I'll check the name when I get home.

And I did the math, the box flouros do about 660 watts total, since they're 3 bulb 55 watters. Its like 4x the total to match incandescant right?

pic aint loading for me for some reason... But mynt: your lights look pretty cool in a weird way. I'm probably gonna take the lighting plunge soon, but i havent decided what to buy yet. Waiting on funding (if any)..or a job

Wondering the same thing about those flouros -- made or bought?

Mynt - I just converted a work light to use a 23W flo (the biggest that will fit). Works well. Just so you know you're not stuck with useless lights if you go the flo route at some point.

What kind of lights are those "box flouros"? They intrigue me.

Well I'm glad you asked John. I can embarrass myself. Bring my actors to tears. Not to mention piss off anyone who ever watches my films

The halogen key lights in the picture actually have stands. I made 3 tier sized stands out of PVC to hold them. I actually have about 6 of those barrel lights, but I try not to mix the halogen and flouro. The box flouros are triple 55 watts, so those are pretty strong. The wide curtain lights are like 125 watts total, great for backlighting.

But I still suck. I just wanted to take a picture for my myspace page and figured I'd put it up here

Nice! I'm digging the ladder as a multi-light stand. That's a great idea.
