Can someone explain the difference between these two softboxes?

    http://www.amvona.com/?page=shop/fly...roduct_id=2129

    and

    http://www.dragonimage.com.au/product.asp?id=1422#pic

they're both similarly priced, yet one comes with 4 1000 watt lamps, the other one with 2 ....70 watt lamps??? please explain!

    be careful of non-established dealers.

Amvona doesnt have a good track record, and a quick search didn't turn anything up for dragonimage at all.

Logically two 70w lamps in a softbox would barely be enough to read a book under, so I don't know what dragonimage is trying to sell... Def go for higher wattage in a softbox, but I would avoid unreputable dealers. try Chimera, Lowel, or B&H

One is a tungsten softbox the other is a fluorescent with two 70w bulbs which would be the equivalent (roughly) of a 500w tungsten softbox but since fluorescent it won't generate the same heat and won't require gelling to get 5400K which a tungsten softbox would require.

Amvona has a wonderful track record with me, I've bought several items from them including this soft box kit, the two larger ones, best softboxes I've ever worked with, much better than Arri, or any other light not designed for soft boxes with speed ring adapters.

so in other words I can't recoment the Amvona soft box kit enough, its amazing,

I've bought plenty from Amvona, on the website and over the phone. (Including two combo stands - no shipping charges!) They have given me great customer service.

I stand corrected then! I've heard bad stories from *other* online shady shops, so I was kind of right, right? :-P

sort of, you should always be careful of non established dealers, but Amvona is established. they make some great products. my old roommate bought a tripod and head from them and it was a great product to.
