I would love to see budget conscious fabric eggcrates at 6x6, 8x8 and 12x12 sizes to fit on on butterfly/overhead frames. The one's from Litetools are super expensive.

There are a bunch of cheap softboxes on Ebay and elsewhere that come with eggcrates. Coollights has a softbox that comes with a grid, speedring and case for $35.!! But most of the cheaper eggcrates have a much less dense grid than the name brand eggcrates. The name brand eggcrates also come in different "degrees". For instance, a 30 degree eggcrate has a lot more squares than a 50 degree eggcrate, and the higher the number of degrees, the more the light is diffused. For example, a Chimera Small 60 degree eggcrate has 48 squares and the widely used 40 degree eggcrate has 221.

I have Chimera softboxes, but I'm going to try out the Photoflex eggcrates, they're about 40% cheaper for the ones I want and they're available in a range of degrees. If you have a softbox that matches the sizes made by JTL, then you might try them - I bought one for my Rifa light and it looks nice, but it doesn't quite fit because I forgot that the Rifa is 25x25 instead of the more standard 24x24 (BTW, if you want a 24x24, I have one cheap).

Heres some instructions I found, maybe I could rig something like this on a soft box.

The panel this guy built is pretty badass looking, looks like a prop from lost in space !

I'm quite suprised someone hasn't decided to undercut this whole market.

Some people make money by pricing the razor blades high rather than the razor itself. Its something to think about before you buy. An eggcrate is basically strips of fabric that are sewn together. Find someone that can sew some nylon strips together and then line the outside of them with velcro. You'll spend a lot on making them yourself too.
