Gobo head (or grip head) goes on the c-stand, gobo arm goes in the gobo head, flag goes in the gobo head permanently attached to the end of the gobo arm. -

Any standard C-Stand is usually equipped with all that you need to position flags. The 40" arm and grip head combo is the most popular.
