How to catalogue and keyword all your raw footage (and access while hard drive is of

    Hi Everyone,

I recently catalogued and key-worded over a decade's worth of raw footage from client video projects. Took a while but absolutely worth it for quick easy access to footage!

Thought some of you might be interested in this. I admit my process for archiving footage has slid a bit of the years so i finally decided to get it back in order.

I wanted to be able to do the following:
    • Quickly find out where any shot or video project was
    • Search all my external external hard drives in one search command
    • Be able to search on either my main desktop editing Mac or on my MacBook Pro
    • Be able to search when i'm anywhere in the world - even without an internet connection
    • Have (at least) a thumbnail image of every raw footage camera file shot for easy visual identifying.

Any further advice on how to improve this would be awesome!

Here is the walkthrough on how i did it

NeoFinder looks pretty good but have you tried Kyno? More expensive but it works great, especially if you have P2/MXF files. Kyno also does a lot more video specific stuff, like offload, backup, etc.

I will also vouch for KYNO, incredible software and a great way to keep track of footage. Also invaluable on set for offload.
