The hardware experts here can correct me if I'm wrong, but when capturing via firewire, I believe the firewire cable only has 2 audio channel lines. So I don't know how it would be physically possible to capture 4 audio tracks in any software.
We edit in Edius Broadcast and tranfer our files from the the P2 camera via it's USB 2 port. This gives us the 4 channels of audio that the camera has recorded.
Then when editing we can select and choose any channel we want.
The camera I'm using is the XL2. I have the on camera mic that records to channels 1 and 2. I have a wireless lav kit recording to channel 3. I would like to record either the stereo camera mic to one channel and use the wireless lav mic on channel 2, but im not sure how to do that, even when asking in the XL2 forum, no one knows. Ive also done searches on how to put the stereo mic on one channel and the lav on the other, but found nothing. But i can record 3 channels, so that is why I was asking for a program that can capture 4 channels.
I think you can remap how audio is captured in Premiere Pro but also I believe scenalyzer can also capture multiple audio streams. Not 100% sure but worth looking into
