Mojo SDI --> Sony Monitor --> Beta SP = NO REF!

Hi everyone,

I tried to hook Mojo SDI component output to my Sony PVM-14L5 input, and loop through Sony PVM output to my Betacam SP deck and I got an error message saying "No Ref". I know that it has no reference input. What can I do? I don't want to hook straight from Mojo SDI to my Beta Deck because I don't want to have always turn my deck on when I want to preview my sequence on the Monitor. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you are going through a VTR you have to have it on -otherwise the signal will not pass through the device. Or simply take S-video or composite to the monitor directly for reference if you don't feel like turning your deck on.

Normally it's advisable to go through a deck to the monitor, that way you can monitor the deck.

Is the error message on the deck? If so, check that the desk is set to use "Int Ref" or "Video In Ref", NOT "Ext Ref" ... I don't' think I've seen a BetaSP deck that didn't have an External Ref / Genlock input. The setting could be either in a menu or a hardware switch labeled "sync, int/ext"
