    importing mxf into media bin

I tried doing what was suggested here on the forum by putting the contents folder into the mediafiles/MXF/1 folder.

But this is not working for me.

What could i be doing wrong? Settings? NOt sure.

    Please HELP!

And you then go to the MediaTool from the proper project type to get your material? More detail needed on the steps taken.

Yes. I go to the mediaTool and then import it from the drive it is located in and it opens up media tools but doesn't import any of the footage in.

Did you find a solution for this??? I am having the same problem - VERY frustrated!! Avid will read the media direct for the P2 store i'm using but can't see it on my system after using the detailed steps mentioned in previous posts on this subject. HELPPPPP!P!!

I have the same issue, in regards to media tools recognizing the mxf files. Media Tool sees the mxf on the p2 card. but that is because I am assigning the drive in the media tool, Seems like media tools does not recognizes the mxf file straight- of on a another drive as it has not been imported first in the project. which is the catch 22 as Avid xpress pro HD gives you an error when you try to import it.
or I might be doing something wrong, help.

I got mine to work, try this out and check if it works, since your Media tool recognizes the mxf files in the P2 card, drag it to your bin from the media tools and then export it out into the folder you have already transferred the mxf file from the p2 card. Overwrite it. i got my Avid Xprees to recognize the mxf this way.

Still no luck - what was the export format you saved as??
I think i'll call Avid and throw some cash at tech support.. let ya know how that goes.

Good news / I am an idiot! I had an Avid MediaFiles folder (created by the Avid) on my B drive NOT MY ROOT DRIVE. This is where i usually store all my video files.. the Avid app is on my root drive as it should be on a seperate for better flow etc. So that is where the Avid gets the MXF files.. i just had to put them there. The extended post on this subject suggests if you don't have that folder to add it - WARNING maybe it is already on your system and your looking in the wrong place. Try a folder search first to make sure Avid hasn't assigned this folder someplace. Should be in the first directory of the media drive you are using with Avid.

Hope this helps someone... I am Saved!

I just re-read the detailed post - Sorry to DC, he does say "on the Avid Media Drive" thats the part i over looked in my rush for a fix. Great instructions followed by a fool. hee hee. Great work DC

Note : this still didn't work as i was also pulling in all my media in the Video file, you need to open that file then grab all MXF files and drag them to the open /1 file for copy. That did it - works perfect
