Another LUT creation - How does it look?

Had to come up with a base working LUT for extra footage to match an on air grade. An S-LOG3 LUT I came up with to match that on air final grade. Three clips in each sequence. The first clip is an S_LOG3 clip. The second clip is the same clip but with my LUT on it. The third and final clip in each sequence is the same clip but pulled straight from the final broadcast grade render of the program. As always, you can often get close, but some final tweaks would need to be done to get close to 100%.

Looks good. The blacks were pulled down a bit in the final but nothing over the top. How accurate are the colors?

Pretty accurate, but a bit over the top in levels IMHO, but that seems to be the trend here. This is the show. There is a one-minute video of reasonable quality to give you an idea.

Looks exactly on point for the type of show. Nice looking images. Which cameras are being used?

Yes, that seems to be the go for these sorts of shows. I'm fairly accurately informed that it is mainly Sony FX6s and 9s. Both of which are capable of delivering good images in the right hands.

I agree with that. Took your suggestion and after discussions with those involved I lifted the blacks a little. The new lifted blacks version still mixes with the pre-graded versions without raising comment. It looks a little bit nicer. Crushed blacks and low end always look bad, no mater how they are justified.

I agree. We passed through the crushed black era with the Canon 5D mk II & III then moved to the gray LOG era... Hopefully we are in the "looks nice" era now
