Hmmm. Assume you are posting this publicly for feedback? Constructive criticism??
Maybe it's my iMac - or I'm not seeing SDR viewing option - but the sky is a strange neon blue-green with no (or hardly any) details. Does have an old film grain look... but hard to watch.

^ Everything you complained about is due to your subjective opinion. Sorry you found it hard to watch but it looks miles better than the original version and when something is in HDR on YouTube, if your screen is HDR then it will only show you HDR options. The sky is suppose to be neon blue green and obviously no information in the sky due to the lack of DR in the HVX200. I posted it because i'm proud of how it turned out.

No it's not his subjective complaint. A first attempt at HDR usually implies working the bugs out. The cyan-skewed white balance is mostly throughout. The viewer can ride along with a fanciful, surreal, dream like intent when there is a reset to reality included somewhere, to reset the mind to understand that the skewed colors are done on purpose, not the result of technical fault. The soundtrack gives a clue but you said it was your first attempt at remastering to HDR. Those that have done it, for many years in my case, know how easy it is to get HDR wrong technically, and so it is viewed through that lens. Your hurtful reaction was an emotional response to a perceived lack of appreciation when there was little to go on. I don't rate art, I just try to follow the intent as a part of the story. I make my judgments about the technical side. I viewed it in HDR and SDR modes with a PC workstation. My display is accurately calibrated for both. I saw how it is, but as your first shot, can never be sure that you saw it as it is. I looked at your other video of Union Station and Larimer St. It has the same dreamy, fanciful, surreal qualities but without the confusing skewed cyan white balance. On that technical level, it was much easier to understand and I liked it better.

Mike - I truly wasn't complaining.... and thanks Tom for saying things above a lot better than I did.
I thought you posted because you wanted feedback. I gave honest feedback.

I've shot hundreds of videos - most of them boring corporate or retail work - back in the day on the HVX200. It was a decent handheld cam in its day - and I'm well aware of its limitations. And I've never tried grading any of that footage or my current Sony stuff in HDR... but need to do so just to get my feet wet.

I'm not knocking any artistic choice - or think less of you personally because I didn't enjoy it. And it is always a viewer's subjective opinion... Always.
          Carry on.

A Beautiful Place looks exactly how it was suppose to look. The sky is how I wanted the sky to look, its not a scew in doing HDR for the first time.. It was how I graded the image. I applied the same methods to DenSky as the first video in terms of going SDR to HDR.. just a different camera, look, tone, etc. Not looking for feedback, its my personal work.. if i post something on a message board its because im proud and enjoy what ive made and how it turned out and wanted to share it with a community (DVXuser) that ive been apart of almost 20 years.

If you take something from it great. if not, no big deal.

Emotions can get construed over text so I apologize if i came off defensive or made you feel like I was personally attacked by your initial comment. You had some thoughts and I was just addressing why those things were the way they were in the video. If there is anything i've learned in almost 25 years of creating its to do what you love and **** the rest. What I do on the personal side of my film work is not for everyone. Im not profiting off it so, as long as I am happy with what i've done who cares, right? i'll always be my toughest critic anyway. I rarely post on DVXuser anymore but when I do, its usually because of something im excited about or have great pride in and that HVX remaster was one of them. All good Mark

                Hey Mike,
still using the HVX? I've got mine all decked out but it now just sits and looks pretty. I might donate the whole kit to a film school here in The Peg.

Gotta keep the old time DVX/HVX going.
                Cheers,
                Daigs.

Wow, i just realized that I am coming up on my 20th anniversary here. How time flies. Is that the correct spelling for that? Or is it fly's?

                  God i hate getting old.

Hey MDK (always funny seeing your user name cause that's my initials lol)

I haven't owned an HVX in a few years, all I got is a RED ONE MX and a Panasonic DVX100. The DVX has NEVER been used ever and is still in open box condition if you. can believe that. Im holding onto that one forever as a reminder of where I started forever ago . Congrats on the 20th Anna. I hit 20 years on DVXuser earlier this year... this username started in 2006 though.. when I was a young teen in jr high I asked a few too many questions and irked some of the older mods on this forum circa 2003 haha. :b

I am looking at getting a smaller mirrorless camera of some kind that I can throw in a backpack.. got a lot of potential weddings I'm going to in the near future and would like something to keep my film brain busy when I'm out of town gotta keep the passion alive at all costs

That's why I have those letters on my old film company.
An MX! That is still useable. Always wanted one but now that they are cheap enough, I don't need one.
I still have my motion control kit. Maybe I'll sell it.

Do I have story to tell about a Facebook group I use to be part of
