.DVX Film Equipment in San Francisco

I'm new to shopping around in the San Francisco area for film production equipment, and I was wondering, any of you SF DVX users know what are some good places to go take a look.

Considering that indie-filmmaking is big here, I figure there's gotta be some good places to go check out. Best Buy/Circuit City/Good Guys/Wolf Camera don't cut it for obvious reasons.

It would be nice to actually look at the stuff before making the decision to buy them.

And is there a DVX user's group in SF?

    Thanks.

Gasser's down on 2nd street has rental units...you could at least go look at one.

In the bay area, the cheapest place to buy one is probably www.biz-max.net

    (I think Fremont)

    good luck

Got my DVX today with the Bogen 501 fluidhead/wilderness tripod.

And my Cinetactix mattebox and 4-hour DVXuser batteries are on the way. Time to start making movies....and um, money to recover my great investment.

Big thanks to Rush!!! Best DVX deal, and great transaction.

Not really, Sean. Nobody's replied to this. But my friend told me he was jealous cos I'm the 4th person he knows who has a DVX. Maybe we should all meet up and taunt him.... DVX-taunter's group.

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.

                  Any more?

Do you happen to know any shops that sell the Panasonic 63MQ tapes up here in NorCal? Normally mail-order 'em but I ran out before my order arrived. Checked around and couldn't find any.

Snader and Associates has tons of equipment to order, DVXs, shotgun mics, monitors, and lots of profession grade equipment as well.

Grrrr! I'm that said friend! Chris you made me come out of lurk mode!

Yeah I know so many people who own this camera, its not even funny. I can't afford the camera myself. 3 other people have purchased this camera because I can't stop ranting and raving about it.

God I wish I could own this camera (with the mini35!). Any angel investors around?

HansK, I order my Panasonic DVMQ's(and other things DVX related) from Rush at EVSOnline. Give him a holler and he will give you a DVXUser.com discount, so that you get even a cheaper price than what is listed on the EVS webpage. 10 DVMQ tapes at 56-something bucks(total, w/shipping) is a STEAL!!

Isn't safer seas in the east bay somewhere?

There is also a place in Benicia (right by the bridge) that offered to beat any price I can come up w/. I buy my blank DVDs from them, and plan to give them a shot when I get my new sticks and matte box.
