Transfer AG-DVX100 data to PC with another MiniDV camera ?

I have recently started to film again with my AG-DVX100A but as the firewire DV is damaged and broken into the camera itself (and i don't want to do the Digitizer Hauppauge USB thing which damage the quality)

i was wondering if it is possible to simply still record stuffs on the AG-DVX100A to then transfer all the data from the miniDV tape to the computer with another MiniDV camera ?

Will the quality be affected ?

Or the other camera will only be a 'reader' for the tape and will not affect quality at all ?

The other camera i am planning to buy (used of course ) is the Panasonic PV-GS120

It does have a DV firewire output too of course and use miniDV tapes so .. :/

    Thanks for help :P

It should work fine. DV is digital data, so any DV camera should read it and transfer it unmodified through its firewire port.

However, be aware that if the MiniDV camera is HDV, like the Canon HV30 that I have, then you may need to go into the menus and change some settings in order to get it to play an SD tape.

(I know this doesn't apply to the camera you will be using -- I only mention it here for the benefit of others in the same situation who may read this thread.)
