feedback please on lumix 12-35 f2.8

    Hi all,
I am hoping to get an AF102a to join my 160A sometime this year, so am lurking a lot! I am interested in the 12-35 f2.8 lumix but have read all sorts of reports about the OIS causing jitters even when off, on tripod mounted GH2/3s. However , I haven't seen this mentioned on any other camera. Have any users carried out any tests, or experienced this on the AF100/101/102?
    Thanks

I use the Lumix 12-35 all the time and I do not experience any jitters with the OIS when it is turned off or on. And I constantly, albeit accidentally, leave the OIS switched to ON when my AF is on a tripod.

I think the lens produces a beautiful image and is amazingly sharp. I have my own complaints about the lens, which weren't a deal breaker when purchasing the lens are still are not a deal breaker for future Lumix lenses, but they are things I have to remember happen when using this lens.

I like the lens a lot. Nothings perfect, but it mates so well with the AF-100 and GH3. Shot this with 12-35 when I first got my copy. This lens lives on my GH3.

Thanks Bobby, Erik. Bobby-what do you have to bear in mind specifically?

Erik, I have seen a lot of your stuff-nice work! Did you use a slider for some of those shots? I can't wait to get an af100 now, and maybe the 12-35 f2.8 lens- probably just need my flexible friend to flex a bit more! thanks for the feedback.

I absolutely love the 12-35mm on my AF100. I find it an essential piece of gear for the AF, as the camera's inherent soft picture is vastly improved with a sharp, fast lens like this one.

I think the 12-35 & 35-100 are 'must owns' for the AF100. I have both and was traveling around Nikon lenses (24-70 & 70-200) and my backpack has gotten much, much lighter now that I have the Lumix lenses ! Love the lenses. For shooting interviews, paired with a GH3, it's a great combo. Image Stabilization is a great extra as well.

The focus is not repeatable with a follow-focus, the lens will blur and the iris will flicker while zooming, and when you zoom, the front of the lens extends.

Like I said, those are deal breakers for me, I just have to make sure I remember those things sometimes.

Thanks! Yes I have a cheapo homemade IGUS slider. It's super light and easy to carry but I have to really concentrate when I use it or it gets bumpy. I really want a new "real" 2' slider.

I couldn't agree you more. Match made in heaven. Love them both on my GH3 as well.
