    AF100+Air Show film = Challenge!

    Hey Guys,

Just wanted to share my newest film I shot with my AF100 at a local air show. I made a general post for everyone in the Cafe, but wanted to share a more specific detail with all my fellow AF100 owners.

I decided to test the entire CMOS "jello" effect by shooting at a local air show. I anticipated none of the footage would be usable, but I figured I'd give it a shot with my stripped down AF100 rig and my Nikon 80-200mm. I was pretty astonished at how it performed. Shooting fast moving aircraft is one of the most difficult thing I've ever tried to shoot! They're amazingly difficult to keep in frame.

Anyway, please check out my film. Post some comments on my site, re-share and let me know what you think!

Nice. Some really exciting shots. That stall at around 2:40 was really sweet. I also like the shadow -> kite edit in the beginning. Really nice. I think it held up nicely. Great edit, and no wobble as far as I could see. There was a little blocking but I'm guessing that's Vimeo doing that. I have my eye on one of those lenses. If the guy still has it, I'm picking it up tomorrow. You road the focus on that 80-200? You were able to frame some beautiful shots. Did you use the EVF? Something else?

Thanks guys! I was waiting with bated breath to see what everyone thought. Yeah, I rode focus and framing the whole time. I have a little LCD hood for the pop out LCD that I just framed my shot's through. I found the EVF on the AF100 too limiting, and i couldn't carry around my SmallHD DP6 due to bulk.

Planes are one of the most difficult things I've ever shot! The F16 was insanely fast! I could only capture it on camera when the pilot was doing a "slow" maneuver. That and the sound is ear damaging loud.

Advice: Bring ear plugs to an air show when your shooting!

            Very nicely done.

Compression was suffering in those skies though. Is that evident on the original?

What lenses where you shooting with?

You made excellent use of overcrank on the AF.

Nicely shot and cut. I liked the shot where the plane goes through the cloud and then lit by a ray of sun.... good catch!

I was wondering how you did that. So which hood? I'm really curious because I have that challenge of not being able to use my TVLogic monitor outside because of bulk and not being able to see it! I have been using EVF with AF in B&W which has been surprisingly good but I don't think I could have gotten those shots with it.

The F16 shot was smooth. Nice going.

Nice job! Always good to challenge yourself and the gears. I bet you wished you had an even bigger lens to play with.
