Help turned on the camera and all I see is black

Help turned on the camera and all I see is black. Lens is attached but nothing is showing up through the camera. Is there a button or setting I'm missing? Thanks

I'm assuming this only happens with an adapter and a third party lens. If you turn it on with the Lumix 14-140 attached to the AF100 body, the camera would function normally without the disconcerting "My camera is broken!!" blackness. Correct??

Correct. It will work normally, regardless of how that menu item is set, if it can detect a lens (any m43 lens with electronic communication would work, so any Olympus or Panasonic should work, but the Voigtlander or CP.2's won't because they have no communication with the body.

That's why the menu item exists. You should leave "lens check" set to "on" if you have an electronically communicating lens. If you have a lens that is strictly manual and non-electronic, you can get it to work by turning lens check to "off".

It stays at what you set it. If you set it to OFF, it will stay OFF.

So when the LCD door is open the viewfinder doesn't work? What do I need to change to make BOTH work at the same time?

Turn the HD-SDI off and turn EVF MODE to "ON" and both EVF and LCD will be active at the same time.

I am always working with C.P.2 lens and i work always in lens off mode. but some times camera switch off and switch on time it is going to dark screen, only menu is appearing at that time i tried lens off and lens on but it wont work. i have to remove the PL adapter and attach the lumix lens then only display will come. then only i have to go back and attach PL..like that it is going on is there any solution for that

As an SLR user I had no idea about this issue and I spent like 2 hours trying to figure out how to get "no lens detected" to go away on my NEX5.

I don't understand why they can't design these things to check for lens data but STILL WORK if they don't find any, rather than having to turn off lens data entirely to use a non-CPU lens...

One more note about a black screen and lens check. Regardless of what lens or adapter you have installed, and regardless of the state of the lens-check menu item, if the lens or adapter is not turned fully clockwise to the lock position, the screen will be blank.

Or if the lens-unlock button is slightly pressed in, the message will come up. Make sure that button is clear.
