Plus, they don't have any video-appropriate lenses for a large sensor camcorder.
Their big five-year Global Expo is next month. They do this once every five years. If there's anything on the radar, we should hear about it then. But don't count on it. For 2010/2011, about the most I expect from Canon would be an interchangeable-lens 1/3" camcorder using their MPEG-2 codec.
Would love to be surprised otherwise, but years of watching them has taught me to not get my hopes up.

Canon has always remained firmly in the under $10k price bracket with their cameras, both still and video. At the current state of technology it is not very likely that any company could develop a full fledged high quality APS-C/S35 pro camcorder with all the functionality and features that implies for less than a $10k market price. Give them another 5 years or so and that might change.

They just announced a Pro Video Camera, without interchangeable lenses of course...

I will stay tuned to the Global Expo, but as you say they probably won't be announcing anything nice for the Canon DSLR video shooters... besides T2i v2 a.k.a. 60D.Thank you for sharing your knowledge,
Iván.

This is an awesome camera About $5000 for the XF105 with XLR and about $4000 for the 100 without. It's small and dense, and solid as a tank. At Canon Expo they have a 3D rig setup with two of the 105s.
I've been thinking about trying to pickup an HMC150 for sports highlights. I wonder how this Canon XF105 would compare.
