GH2 workflow process when editing with FCP X

I have not used FCP X yet but will be using this program to edit a web series shot on green screen with the GH2.

What is the best workflow process when editing GH2 footage with FCP X?

What is the process for importing GH2 footage into FCP X?

Does one need to do any special preparation to the GH2 files for FCP X post work?

    Thanks!

You can edit the files directly or transcode to PRORES.
Editing the native files isn't so smooth, but workable.
Transcoding is quite fast and easy on editing.

GH2 workflow process when editing with FCP X - transcoding to PRORES

      Hi Ulisses,

      Thanks for answering my post.

Is transcoding to PRORES a feature of FCP X, or will I need to use another program?

FCPX can do the transcode automagically (if you have the option to convert to "optimized media" selected), or for even better results, you can use 5DtoRGB.

          Gary,

Thanks for the link to 5DtoRGB.

          Have you used this program?

Why does 5DtoRGB give better results then transcoding with FCP X?

The most basic reason is that 5DtoRGB handles the Quicktime gamma bug, which can make your footage look washed out.

              Hey Gary,
When you use 5dtoRGB in fcpx...what do you have selected in fcpx when you import the files, optimized media or proxy media? When I select optimized media, the footage doesn't show up and says missing proxy media. It only imports if I use proxy media. Any idea why this would be happening?

              Thanks!
