Has anyone shot any kind of actionsports yet?

I work for an actionsports company and I am interested in picking one of these cameras up. I would love to see some footage before I make a decision. (prefrably watersports) I have been doing a lot of work with the letus extreme lately but I find it to big and clumsy for all the handheld stuff I do. I really would love something lighter.
Here is a link to some stuff we have shot just recently. This is the type of work I would be doing with the camera. I would also love to be able to match HVX footage as close as possible.
    Thanks

I love the shot where the guy gets decapitated by the helicopter rotor blades. Awesome! :-)

Because of the technology's use of an electronic rolling shutter, you'd want to carefully consider if any CMOS-based camera is appropriate for shots including things like moving rotors, propellers, etc. There are many examples showing this issue online.

But if spinning blades aren't a prominent aspect of your future videos, then the GH1's 720p mode might be a good choice.

In case you missed it, Stephen's example clip is at least partly relevant to your question:

Thank you! The helicopter stuff is not part of my daily routine. But this is the industry I work in. So a lot of fast moving subjects and water shots. I still plan on using my HVX but would love to use some sort of camera for the more artistic shots (I guess that is how to put it) of my work. I also do a lot of product promos that I know would be fine with this camera. Just wondering about the action side of things.
      Thanks again!

I already did shoot some of the stuff you mentioned. I had the chance to film some skateboarding and skimboarding.

          Some fun footage to watch:

Here is my advice: The rolling shutter in 720p is no issue at all. If you select your locations carefully even the weak GH1 codec implementation can produce good results. But for water actionsports I would recommend to stay away from the GH1. When shooting water movement the codec will produce nothing but artifacts. For me this is no issue, I also have a HMC150 which performs very well under those circumstances but the GH1 can't compete.

mountain biking at beginning and end of this:

pretty low-light conditions, though still came out nicely even with most shots at iso 1600

So I ended up picking up a GH1. I just got it yesterday and went straight out to shoot. It was fun... A little small but worked good. I think I need some more time with it to work out all what I think are most likely user errors in the footage. Here is a quick clip straight out of the camera and conformed in Cinema Tools.
